The Fargo, North Dakota -- Moorhead, Minnesota area serves among gateways to the Great Plains and the American West. Maple River Winery, a statewide attraction near Casselton, specializes in utilizing North Dakota native fruits from chokecherry and wild plum to apple jalapeno pepper. Regional festivals range from Barnesville Potato Days and the Fargo Blues Festival to the Red River Street Fair, the Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival, and the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. Fargo - Moorhead also provides a smorgasbord of dining choice with more than 250 restaurants, some featuring home-style cooking, for barbecue, steaks, buffets, and ethnic specialties. Outdoor enthusiasts are attracted to the area's hunting and fishing, especially for wall-eye. Outside the area's Visitor Center -- the so-called Grain Elevator at Interstate 94's exit 348 -- is the Celebrity Walk of Fame with signatures and footprints of personalities such as Neil Diamond, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Dr. Ruth, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and The Moody Blues. Altogether Greater Fargo - Moorhead provides more than 3,400 guestrooms, including seven convention hotels.
